Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Admiralty Island, Alaska.

Time

In the late afternoon , we were viewing bear activity on Pack Creek when this sow and three Cubs approached our viewing are. The Cubs decided to take a nap directly underneath our viewing platform and mom came very close to make sure the Cubs remained safe. After about an hour, the Cubs woke up and they all continued on their way fishing the creek.

Lighting

The light on this day was perfect, golden rays breaking through the trees near the creek.

Equipment

I shot this using a D800E, and a 300mm f2.8 nikon lens.

Inspiration

I have always enjoyed photographing wildlife and this was an exceptional day!

Editing

I used Lightroom to make some minor adjustments to exposure on this picture.

In my camera bag

I normally always have my standard trio of lenses in my bag the 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 nikon series. When I am shooting serious wildlife I also carry the 300mm f2.8

Feedback

Patience and a good tripod are always the staples of good photography as well as knowing you camera.
