Location
This picture was taken at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, in Lilburn, Georgia, United States. It is a traditional Hindu temple (place of worship).Time
This shot was taken around 4:15 PM. I remember getting to the temple compound early to avoid the crowd but did not succeed. In the evenings, the temple opens between 4-6 PM.Lighting
This was shot in the natural light. The sun was low and I loved the shadows I could capture on the stairs on the temple.Equipment
This was shot in 2012. At that time, I was shooting using Nikon D7000. This is a handheld shot. This was shot at 48 mm using a standard kit lens - 18-55mm.Inspiration
The architecture itself is breathtaking. Each dome, the carvings is worth to look at. The flags on top were playing to the tunes of the wind. It was a surreal scene that compelled me to take the shot.Editing
I did. Like I mentioned I failed to avoid crowd. I had to use content-aware at a lot of places to take people out. There were many people standing around the stairs of the temple. I also played with the tone of the sky to give it a more dramatic look.In my camera bag
I am currently shooting using Nikon Z7. I am using a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S, a wide-angle (dx 10-24), Prime (50mm f/1.4), and a zoom (fx 70-300) for now.Feedback
In a shot like this, it is a bit of both luck and technique. I was lucky to get clouds and the sunlight like this. Wait for the right moment, breathe, and take the shot.
