Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in the back yard after "releasing" the rat from the cat that was playing with him/her. The rat was quite slow after being played with so I had plenty of time taking the picture.Time
The picture was captured in the afternoon.Lighting
Only natural light, no flashes was used as I did not want to scare the rat more than it already had been terrified by the cat.Equipment
Canon EOS 1Dx with Laowa 15mm 1:1 Macro, tripod and Manfrotto 405 head.Inspiration
Viewbug - Hall of Fame - it was a photo of some bees sitting on a flower beautiful lighted by the sun, that was when I was inspired to the macro wide angel world. After watching "all" available posts and reviews on the internet for Laowa 15mm I just had to try this lens for its macro wide angel perspective. It is a manual lens and everything have to be adjusted as we did back in the film days :0).Editing
I use Lightroom, it is cropped approximitly 15% . By using Radial filter - invert mask the rat was lighted by exposure and some clarity was added. In my camera bag
My Canon 1Dx and EF 70-200 f2.8 II are always in the bag. Pending on what to capture I bring the Sigma 12-24 f4 Art for landscape or the Iris 15mm f2.4 for night photography. For birds and animals I use my Canon EF 300 f2.8 MkI or Sigma 800 f5.6.Feedback
By using the Laowa 15mm 1:1 Macro you have to plan as it can take some time to set up the equipment. I am always using Tripod and Manfrotto`s 410/405 head as they can be adjusted by adjustable knobs and offers precise geared movement. I tried to use ring flash but it is often to wide as the min. focus of the lens is only 4.7mm the ring flash will crash in the environment and ruin the "scene".
