Location
It was taken indoors and then composited onto a background consisting of series of images. The reason for compositing that one was that it was cold (in the middle of November) and I didn't want to wait for the spring or the summer to finish the project.Time
As the photo was composited it is not important when during the day it was taken.Lighting
The lighting was simple: A softbox as a key on the left and a white reflector to fill the shadows on the right.Equipment
At that time I had an old Canon 40D with a 17-55/2.8 lens. I used Elinchrom Quadra, but any flash will work for that job.Inspiration
Back in the days there were not many clients calling and I decided to make a story in pictures where I won't think about how I would photograph them, but rather be creative as if a client wanted this. Then the "Letter in a Bottle" series was born. This image is a part of the story. You can see the whole project on my official website: http://lazarovphoto.com/story-letter-in-a-bottle.htmlEditing
This photo was a part of a series called "Letter In a Bottle" which took me about eight months to complete it. All images were composites and each one took me about 3-4 days of work. The rest of the time was spent traveling to find the elements of the background I needed. A very few of the backgrounds in the series are composed of a single image. This one had three, I think. In my camera bag
I have different bags for different gear and I use whatever the project calls for. I don't have a "go to" gear. The most important tool is between my ears, though.Feedback
Creativity is what makes the difference between photographers, not gear. I had an old discontinued camera and a lens and no clients at that time. This made me think of making something out of the limited gear and skills I had at that time.
