Location
The photo was taken by a business building in Sofia, Bulgaria.Time
It was a nice early summer afternoon. We've been shooting on 2 other locations and that was the final one at about 5-6PM. The sun was getting lower on the horizon and we were in the shade. The ambient light was blue which suited the final look of the image. This image was not planned and these were the last 5 minutes of the photoshoot. I asked the model to let me photograph something I had in mind and we shot about 10-15 frames. That's one of them.Lighting
I used a big octa on the right (it's even visible in the window of the car as I decided to leave it there) and a speedlight on the left.Equipment
I used an old Canon camera back in the days. It was shot at about the 24-35mm range.Inspiration
This was one of my first images in my corporate/advertising portraiture portfolio.Editing
Post production has been done entirely in Photoshop Elements. A bit of dodge and burn, desaturated and added a blue color cast.In my camera bag
I normally shoot with Canon cameras (whatever the project requires) and several softboxes and lights.Feedback
Having an idea in mind is half of the picture. When someone knows what to photograph and what the light ratios should be the idea is even more than half of the picture. In this case I knew what I wanted so it was a matter of setting up the light ratios and directing the subject. When you don't have an idea what you are doing you are loosing the time of the model and the client and and show lack of confidence. Confidence is very important. It should not be just on the surface but a firm knowledge of your gear and your ability to use it so you can deliver the best results to the client.
