This photo was taken in my old basement studio with a low ceilingTime
not applicable used flash for the imageLighting
with a low ceiling 6'6" in height ,painted white it acts as a giant softbox when you point the flash upwards so it is indirect light that falls on the subject. Also the black cloth tends to absorb any fall offEquipment

this is a project that I gave to my students. Create a self portrait box using objects that would tell the viewer about you. you cannot use words or photographic images in the box. Create or find a box to the suitable scale to house your objects. This was my example for them.We talked about composition, difference of size or scale, tonal range, overlapping, positive and negative space and eye movement.Editing
fairly straight shot convert to black and white, play up the contrast and have things melt into shadowIn my camera bag
nikon d 300 kit lens also lumix gh4 with lens adapters so I can use a variety of nikon and pentax lens. I always have gold and silver reflectors on handFeedback
the self portrait box is always a good project, it is very personal and all the results were unique to the individual
