I had recently purchased the replica battle axe at a flea market and we were using it for different setups. Originally the shot I wanted was the spear end of the axe to follow the vertical line of the nose like a medieval helmet while the model moved into that position this shot became apparent I like the way the rounded blade echoes the line of the chin and the negative shape of the silhouetted weapon reveals the eyeEditing
Unlike most of my work there is very little post processing . The image was shot in raw and then converted to black and white in photoshop. Al ittle bit of dodging and burning around the cheekbones and eyes and some slight cropping and that's itIn my camera bag
I have 2 bags one for digital and 1 for traditional film cameras a Rolliflex and my old stand by Minolta xd 11 I always carry a reflector and use studio lighting at my homeFeedback
find a model you are comfortable working with and they need to be enthusiastic with the artistic process. Prepare before the shoot with some ideas, I usually have sketches and props ready when the model comes to the studio. I talk with the model and I explain the clear expectations for the session. During the shoot I try a variety of viewpoints and angles
