Location

The photo was taken in the Czech capital Prague during a Christmas trip.

Time

I remember walking around Prague Castle and walking a long distance in this part of the city on a frosty day. At some point, we came to a small deserted street, I didn't have time to set up a tripod, so I took photos with my hands. It was one of the best days I remember walking around frosty Prague and admiring the city while the city was preparing for Christmas celebrations. This was taken on December 17, 2018, at one o'clock in the afternoon.

Lighting

I wanted this image to look mysterious and draw the viewer into the history of the city. It was beautiful daylight on a slightly gloomy, frosty day.

Equipment

This was taken on an OLYMPUS XZ-1 with the settings: aperture 32/10, ISO 100, Shutter 1/400, Focal Length 987/100. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was looking for a place to shoot the beauty of the ancient city. Usually, I browse places on Google Maps to find architectural monuments. I wanted to find some interesting point to shoot Prague Castle, but when we came to this deserted street, I realized that it would look good in the frame.

Editing

Usually, street photography requires a lot of processing. But in this particular case, I decided not to process the photo too much, but just lighten it up a bit and crop it.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always take with me is my OLYMPUS XZ-1. You can take good pictures with it, and since I am an amateur photographer, it has become my favorite thing. I like its size, compactness, and lightness. It allows me to always keep it ready.

Feedback

The city of Prague has unique architectural characteristics. On every street, on every corner of the city, you can find interesting ideas for photography. One of the main features of a street photographer is to have patience and look for the right places and moments, which is very important in a place like Prague. Be prepared for a variety of landscapes, colors, and situations. Dawn and dusk will add interesting moments, but moody daylight conditions create an atmosphere appropriate to the architecture of the city. Diversify, have patience and plan ahead.
