Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was in taken in the summer in a friend's garden.Time
The shot was taken in the afternoon because the light was perfect at that moment.Lighting
The light was coming from behind the model, so it was easy to (slightly) overexpose the background and not overexposing the white bib.Equipment
This was shot with a Sony A7R3, aan 85mm G-master lens. No tripod, flash or filter.Inspiration
I wanted to take a 'sunny'-shoot and I loved the contrast of the tats versus the white racebib.Editing
Limited post-processing: crop, skin retouching and making sure the model was not overexposed. Some dodge and burning. In my camera bag
I like to travel light: I always pack an 85mm lens and a 55mm (that I rarely use) and a 28-75mm (that I rarely use). Some gaffer tape and pincers and a light meter (for very tricky situations).Feedback
Natural light is the best light. I like to have lots of light behind the model because this creates some halo around the model and overexposes the background so that it becomes less important. Good communication with the model is important. I tried the bib with another model, but she didn't like it and it shows in the pictures.
