Location
This was taken at Pearl's Airport on the northeast coast of Grenada. It was the country's first airport (opened in 1943), and was captured by Marines in the 1983 invasionTime
A friend and I were doing some exploring, and came across this site in the early afternoon on our way to find a waterfall.Lighting
The lighting was actually fairly harsh, being so close to the middle of the day, but a passing cloud and the shadow of the airplane wing helped get a better shot.Equipment
This was a phone camera photo (Samsung Galaxy) - unfortunately my Nikon had recently reached the end of its lifespan, so I've been relying on my phone camera a lot more.Inspiration
I was inspired by the contrast of the run-down state of the Cubana airliner still sitting on the runway, evidence of a conflict from long ago, with the sheep grazing peacefully in the grassy field surrounding it.Editing
I post-process most of my photos. In this case I turned the highlighting way down and increased the contrast. In my camera bag
As I'm really just starting out, I don't have any equipment with me other than the camera I'm using.Feedback
Have an open mind- even if you plan on going to a specific location at a specific time, be prepared for other opportunities that present themselves along the way.
