I like the angle of this shot, you don't see this much and really sets it apart from traditional portraits.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at one of our most favorite local beaches in New Jersey. This particular one was not very crowded among the many beautiful and secluded beaches that we completely enjoy.

Time

This photograph was taken around 2:45 PM in the mid day on a very pleasant August afternoon, a perfect time to be on the beach with a camera, looking for yet another potentially creative photograph.

Lighting

The mid afternoon lighting was natural and that perfect time of day for shooting pictures at the beach.

Equipment

This picture was taken with an Olympus SP565UZ with the zoom lens set to about 90mm and with no filtration, flash or tripod. Just hand held, at ISO 64 and an aperture of f5.6 and a 1/800 second exposure.

Inspiration

When I came across this scene of the young woman gazing lazily at the ocean, I wanted to capture the unique perspective created of viewing the ocean using, as the focal point, the lines of her figure.

Editing

Very little post processing was required. All that I needed to do was a bit of cropping to eliminate some minor distractions.

In my camera bag

Now I normally have my Nikon D7200 camera along with my Nikon 18-55mm lens, my Nikon 55-300mm lens, my Tamron 18-400mm lens, a few macro lens adapters, a remote shutter release and extra storage cards and batteries.

Feedback

Take as many pictures at as many varied angles and light situations as possible. Your rewards can be many and surprising. Don't be afraid to experiment and have fun being as creative as your imagination inspires you whether with or without post-processing. Create, Deepen and Enjoy your Passion!!
