Location
Mormon Row in Grand Teton National ParkTime
This photo was one of those "it just was right when we came by" shots. We had been in the park at daybreak to photograph wildlife, but due to the forest fires in the area the animals were difficult to find. Typically this barn is shot at an angle that would show the Tetons but with all of the smoke it may them impossible to see, so i went the other direction. This picture was taken on Labor Day 2017 at about 10:00 in the morning.Lighting
Due to the smoke and haze in the sky it created an interesting color and cast to the light.Equipment
This was taken handheld with a Canon T3i and a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 lens.Inspiration
I love Grand Teton National park and this historical barn is one of my favorites...the smoke only added to the experienceEditing
I really didn't do any post work on this one...just a little with the levels in Photoshop is all.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Sigma EX 120-300 f2.8 for quick wildlife shots and sometimes combine it with a Sigma EX 2x converter for longer reach. On this shot I grabbed my wider lens that I use for landscape shots.Feedback
All I can say with this is that sometimes even bad light days, like a very smoky sky, can produce a different way of seeing things. Don't be afraid to keeping shooting even if the conditions are less than ideal.
