Location
This was taken in the studio in Horwich, just on the outskirts of Bolton.Time
Taken at.night. The studio has no windows so all lighting is controlled in it.Lighting
This is a colour picture. The model was wearing an orange dress, is blonde with a good tan.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 50d using a Sigma 17-50 lens at f2.8. An electronic trigger controlled two flash heads. One positioned front left and the other high level right. The 400 heads were delivering about 50% power and fired on the front curtain setting.Inspiration
I thought Ashley looked amazing that night and I wanted to capture something that was clearly her without her facing the camera.Editing
Post production was in CS6 photoshop. Multiple layers to create the gloss sheen and desaturate as well as then bring original colour back to lips and hair braid. In my camera bag
Canon 50 and 550 bodies. Lenses 50 f1.8 canon. 28-135 vivitar 2.8 old but great colour management. Canon 18-55 stock which handles great range of stuff. 12-24 Tokina f4. Canon 70-300 for a bit of range. Youngo ETTL flash head. 3 sets of batteries, 10 memory cards, remote triggers and a clear poly bag ( you need a rain cover at times). As I use a back pack also have a lightweight tripod just in case and an old light meter.Feedback
To capture done thing you want be prepared to think differently. So many ask "how did you do that" then do the same themselves. Honestly if you want to just be the same as everyone else then sell your camera and buy a copier. Take risks and remember the image is a bit of you but post production is as well. It's all part of the process.
