Location
Jökulsárlón Iceland Feb 2017Time
This shot was taken on a 14 hour session in the bitter cold of the glacial lagoon.....the aurora came out around 2200hrs and by the time we had been out in the cold my only option to operate the camera was to use a remote as my hands were numb from the cold.Lighting
the sky had lit the lagoon enough to expose the image correctly, some LE was usedEquipment
standard tripod, canon 70D, canon 16-35mkIIInspiration
I went to iceland with the intention of coming back with at least one holy grail shot....i didnt know which one it would be until i visited jokularsalon and knew this was the place to capture that one shotEditing
Yes there was some small adjustments in photoshop to correct the aurora as the aurora was caught on a 15sec exposure and the lagoon was captured on a separate exposure around 5pm as daylight endedIn my camera bag
wide angle 16-35/canon 70d/ef50mm/tripod/remote trigger/spare batteriesFeedback
The aurora must be captured on a tripod at around iso1000 or above and then adjust the shutter accordingly to results....hopefully the aurora stays out long enough to adjust...i was extremely lucky as we had around 45mins of the display
