Two Asian elephants. Billy is an 8-year-old bull. He's leading with Bodhi, a 12-year-old bull following. Generally male elephants are solitary in the wild, but researchers have found they occasionally make loose associations. Zoos rarely put males together, but these elephants are part of a social experiment at the Denver Zoo to see if they bond and if it helps their quality of life. What I saw were two elephants who nuzzled their heads together, wrapped their trunks around each other, and appeared to really enjoy each other. I don't know much about elephants but this social experiment seemed to have worked.
