Location
I took this photo in a sun room and the walls were completely glass allowing all kinds of light in.Time
It was around 4 p.m. But to my luck it was overcast which helped block out all that harsh lighting that there commonly is around that time. I personally like to shoot either early in the morning or under a cloudy sky.Lighting
I had all the lights turned off and I was not using any artificial light for this photo as I wanted to capture a more natural-looking photo.Equipment
The equipment that I used for this was a Nikon D3000 with a 35mm 1.8 prime lens. That was all the equipment that I used.Inspiration
I was looking just holding my camera and my girlfriend laid down and I thought that it looked perfect with her hair contrasting against her skin and sprawled all around her.Editing
I took the image and brought it into Lightroom and all I really did was bring out the contrast to make it a little less dull.In my camera bag
Normally now what I tend to have with me is a Nikon D5100, two-speed lights, a Nikon D3000, a 35mm lens, and a 55mm lens.Feedback
One of the main reasons I was able to capture this photo was what I believe is luck. I am not a professional photographer by any means and I do not have much background in portraiture. Yet, as soon as I saw the circumstances I knew it would be a good photo. My best advice is to train your eye to see what would make for an interesting photo, or how could I look at this at a different angle.
