Behind The Lens
Location
From our old backyard.Time
This was actually taken at sunset and it was getting quite dark. I was worried I would miss the shot!Lighting
Due to the backlit from the sunset, I had to drop exposure almost entirely on the tree to be able to stop the rest of the shot being washed out.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 7dMkII, hand held with no accessories.Inspiration
Silhouettes are special, and when you can pull of a nature sunset one with only a few exposure tweaks it just makes you fuzzy on the inside. Our house had only burnt down a few months prior and sunset was always a healing moment.Editing
In this instant I simply darkened the shadows and improved the contrast a bit.In my camera bag
I'm very much a opportunistic photographer, I will normally only have my 7DmkII, a 50mm prime lens and one of my zoomies (usually the 25-70). It's funny, I was recently joking that most phones can pull off the same level of portraiture now though.Feedback
Don't overthink it. If you see something you think is cool, just take the shot.
