Location
I live in Southern Alberta, And there are tons of abandoned farms all over the place. This photo was taken while I was driving back roads near Fort Mcleod.Time
This photo was taken right at the beginning of the golden hour, it was my last stop before calling it a day. I ended up exploring the house until sunset.Lighting
Because the sun was so low on the horizon, I was able to catch some great sun flares coming through the wooden walls. It was a great time of day for lighting.Equipment
I shoot with a Cannon 60D, this one was handheld, with a 10-18 lens.Inspiration
There's so much beauty and history in these old farm houses. And the way they break down in the prairies is really amazing. they really speak to me.Editing
Not a lot of post on this one, some touch up in Lightroom. mostly to make the lines pop!In my camera bag
I try to keep my pack fairly light, when going into places like this. So my wide angle, Canon 10-18mm, and a zoom of one kind or another, I often run into wildlife and its best not to get to close.Feedback
Be careful, for everyone building I deem safe enough to go into there are 5 that aren't. Bring a friend, bring a phone. From a technical point of view, keep it light, think street photography, don't carry to much kit, you may need your hands. try changing your perspective, and always turn around and look behind you. You could be lining up an amazing shot, only to have something astounding going on behind you.
