Behind The Lens

Location

I went on a trip to Alaska with my family and one of must-go-to place was Matanuska Glacier. I was abandoned the tour guide group and went walking around by myself and found this place.

Time

This was exactly shot at 3:45pm. It was during August and August in Alaska is when it rains.

Lighting

Nothing really but I really liked the subtle brightness that was reflecting from the snow and the water. Glacier is melting!!!

Equipment

Only equipment I had with me at the time was Iphone 6 plus. It's really amazing what these smartphone cameras are capable of.

Inspiration

When I was walking around by myself, I found the gradients of blue aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Editing

Yes. I used an app called, Darkroom. Added a bit of sharpness, saturation, and unnoticeable amount of contrast.

In my camera bag

I used to have my Nikon D90 with 35mm and iPhone 6 plus—now I use only fujifilm disposable camera and Leica M6 with Voigtlander 35mm f2.5.

Feedback

Really, I believe it's about how far you are willing to explore. Just get lost and shoot around. Your smartphone will help you get back to where you came from. If its some place where you hardly have any signal, I usually make my route simple—but the chances of getting lost is pretty rare.
