Location
I took this at St. Rose Catholic Church in downtown Santa Rosa, California.Time
The time was mid afternoon, around 2 pm.Lighting
The lighting is totally natural. I will credit the architect with the incredible spread of color that came from the wall of windows.Equipment
I used just my Sony Nex-6 with an in-camera HDR.Inspiration
I was walking around my hometown (during winter) and came upon this church. No service was going on, but there were construction workers there doing a renovation/remodel. They allowed me to come in and wander around. The wall of windows that spread the magnificent color over the room left me breathless. There were also older traditional stained-glass windows that were spectacular.Editing
The only post-processing was use of the sliders in iphoto. In my camera bag
I carry a Sony Nex-6 as well as a 14mm, 17-50mm, 50-200 and fish lenses. I have two extra batteries and one extra memory card, 16g. I also have a cleaning instruments. I only use natural lighting. I don't carry filters or flashes. I have a tripod and a beanbag in my car in needed.Feedback
I was thinking how serendipitous it is to find a scene like this when I'm just wandering around. I believe anyone could take this photo. But they have to have mentally taken the step to walk inside, ask questions, poke around, be bold. I'm an advocate of looking for special images in my own town.
