Location
This photo was taken in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, along the Appalachian trail.Time
It was the middle of the day, with wispy clouds.Lighting
The lighting was flat, and nondescript, but the trees were highlighted nicely.Equipment
This shot was taken using a Canon 5D Mk III and 24-105f4 lens, on a tripod.Inspiration
The combination of the clouds and calm water reflection made the shot interesting, but I wasn't sure it would be a "keeper" until I processed the shots. The color combinations just popped in post processing.Editing
This is a 5-shot HDR picture, processed using Photomatrix. In my camera bag
I normally have the 5D Mk III, a 7D, a 300 f4, a 70-200 f2.8, a 24-105 f4, and the 17-40 f4 in my bag. I have a couple extra batteries, a few extra memory cards, the 430EX2 flash, some filters, etc.Feedback
When I arrived at this location, I recognized it was a beautiful spot, but was uninspired by the mid-day lighting. I decided to bracket a few exposures, and see what I could end up with after processing. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. You can't be surprised by the shot you didn't take - go for it!
