Location
Amersfoort, The NetherlandsTime
The blue hour 30 minutes after sunset.Lighting
Measure the light and look at the histogram. I usually make three pictures it is important to keep the normally exposed picture right in the middle of the histogram. Make sure that the overexposed photo within 30 sec. remains. Often I want a long exposure for the air too get it movment , put the camera in bulb mode and take a long exposure from 30 sec. until .... sec. merge the photo's manual in photoshop.Equipment
Canon 7D with a Canon 15-85 lens, tripod, remote, ND8 filter and a pol.filterInspiration
This location is near my house. Here I often practice with new materials. I can find my peace here and this is one of my favorites spot to photograph the blue hour.Editing
Manuel blending from 3 photo's of more in Photoshop. I work with adjustment layers to get everything in balans ( Dodge and burn, colours, highlights & shadows, clarity and noise reduction). In my camera bag
Canon 7D, Canon 15-85 lens, LEE little stopper, LEE 0.6 soft grad, LEE .9ND, tripod, remote control, B&W pol.filter, Raincover,Feedback
Make sure you technically can make a good photo and photograph in M mode then you know what you're doing. Look carefully at the histogram to make sure that everything is nicely balanced and therefore the maximum out of the picture can get. Now what you do ! so you have control over the camera and can apply it in every situation.
