Location
I took this photo on some old skids at my work property. I sometimes use my lunch break to look for macro opportunities there since there’s a large retention pond in the back.Time
Mid afternoon, as it was taken during my lunch break.Lighting
It was a typical clear sunny Florida day.Equipment
Nikon D810 with the f/4.0 200mm macro lens and a tripod.Inspiration
Seeing other crazy cool macros online, I’ve always wanted to try to get my own, so I decided to get out and practice whenever possible.Editing
I always shoot in RAW, so I used Adobe RAW to bring back the original colors and details, and cropped in to focus solely on the face and eyes, but nothing major. In my camera bag
Always have a good wide angle zoom (15-35) a macro lens, a midrange zoom (24-200) and larger zoom (100-500) with my current canon EOS R5.Feedback
Be extremely patient, and ready to wait for a good amount of time when trying insect macros. They are always very busy and moving around and have no interest in stopping to pose for pictures lol. You gotta be ready to get your shot!
