Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a vacant field in the quaint little town of Victor, Idaho. As my brother once lived across the street, I knew of this field and the beauty it has to offer in the early days of spring.

Time

I took this photograph about mid-day as it grants the perfect light from above.

Lighting

I wanted this image to capture the vibrant color as the pedals break loose from the bud in the beautiful light of day.

Equipment

As I was driving a rental car that , I did not have any of my equipment with me. This shot was taken using only the built-in camera on my Samsung S23 phone.

Inspiration

As the poppies in this area only bloom for a brief two weeks in the early spring, timing was essential. The vibrant colors is a truly breathtaking experience, a sight most people do not get to witness. My inspiration for this photograph was to share with others this spectacular beauty.

Editing

I try to keep all my photographs raw, and just as I took them. There is no exception with this photo. I did no post-processing whatsoever. It stands exactly as I took it that spring day.

In my camera bag

Batteries, Batteries, and more Batteries. I also carry with me a DJI RS 3, 3-Axis Gimbal for my video shoots.

Feedback

Lighting is the key. This photo was not taken with a high-end camera. Rather, using only built-in camera on my phone, I was able to capture the vibrant colors of spring. I achieved this by taking the shot mid-day, thus, having the noon-day sunlight fall directly from above.
