Location
This photo was taken in a small private studio in Montreux, Switzerland.Time
That was my first time ever shooting with a pro model, as well with a pro make-up artist and a pro hair stylist. All together, we spent a couple of hours for this shooting, and that one is one of the first pictures. Photo took the 16th of February about half past forteen.Lighting
I wanted a soft lighting for the picture. I used to big rectangular softboxes from left and right, a backlight directed on the left shoulder and a leitmotiv diffuser in front and above the model.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a Canon EF 85mm lens. f/8 1/125s at 100 ISO, no tripod and 4 flashes by Elinchrom. Light grey background behind the model.Inspiration
Well, The aim of the shooting was to get a first experience working with pro model, as well with MUA and hairstylist. Nothing more, only let it go and catch what happened.Editing
Some minor adjustment in Lightroom before going in Photoshop for the main postproduction. Cleaning and healing, I also used frequency seperation for cleaning the shirt. Cleaning and smoothing the skin, some work on the eyes, sharpening. I also decided to change the color of the background and finaly add some grain to the final image. In my camera bag
It depends on the kind of picture I want to do: 1 or 2 bodies, 3 to 4 lenses, tripod, filters, flashes,..Feedback
The only true advice is to practice and practice again. But if you feel uncomfortable in model directing, I strongly recommand to work with a pro model. Everything get easier then. In the same idea, if you don't feel ready to do a long job of retouch, working with a good MUA is a must. Also remember the more resolution has your camera, the more work you'll have in post.
