This photo was shot in my converted family room with a gray paper background a few years ago.Time
N/A however I'm always available for a lovely model.Lighting
This was shot with a basic three light setup. Two Alienbee's with soft boxes at the prescribed angles, one main, one fill and a small hair light pointing somewhere in the back ground. The hair light is one light I tend just to forget all about once I set up and begin to shoot. I probably need to do better with that.Equipment
Shot with my old Canon 5D Mk III, my favorite Tamron 24-70. ( The image stabilization is a life saver)Inspiration
This is the cropped photo that I posted and the full frame of this photo is posted in my collection. I wish now that I had moved in on the subject to keep the full frame. I'm saying that a lot lately as I look at my older stuff. Anyway, Carlotta has strength and confidence in any photo I was privileged to take, always poised, powerful and a touch provocative.Editing
If anything, this is over processed. I use Lightroom to catalog and to do slight overall adjustments, then feel I the need to switch to Photoshop to unfortunately "gild the lily". I felt the need to smooth out too many things and fiddle with this and that thinking I'm creating greatness. Truth be told, Carlotta has the most flawless smooth skin and I don't do her justice trying to improve on her natural beauty. In this Covid era I should revisit ( I'm told that is allowed) my RAW files and try again with my different eye as to what I want to project. In my camera bag
My bag is pretty sparse. I have my go to 5D MK III (dreaming about going mirrorless but I've not yet used this camera to it's fullest), Tamron 24-70, Canon 70-200 2.8.Feedback
Any advice I have especially looking back at this particular shoot is pretty basic. I know I was overwhelmed with the lighting, the model, practically everything I guess but I did have an idea of what I wanted to capture and with the amazing model I succeeded. Then I went to post processing and my advice would be..... keep it simple and keep it real.
