Behind The Lens

Location

This is a photo of Svörtulofts lighthouse on Snæfellsnes peninsula in West of Iceland. There is a gravel road that leads to it that you need a 4x4 to reach it. I went there also last ear and then I was alone but this time there was almost a traffic jam. Tourism in Iceland has reach new heights. There are definitely pros and cons to this.

Time

This was shot at 21 in the evening in the beginning of August 2023 so I still got some evening sunlight.

Lighting

This is natural light and no studio lighting. Sun is setting around 22-23 ish at this time of the year.

Equipment

I'm not a big fan of tripods so this is a handheld shot. But I do like to use as lo g exposure as I can get away with for some reason.

Inspiration

I have been to this location every year since I started taking photography serious and was trying to learn new things every time. I hope I'm learned a thing or two on my journey.

Editing

I use both capture one and lightroom but on this imahe I used lightroom on an ipad. I try to emphasize what is already in the photo and I fixed contrast, and used the dehaze slider also to push the sunlight a bit.

In my camera bag

I use fujifilm xt5 and I also use fujifilm x70 for my point and shoot street photos. I have some primes but this time I used a zoom lens.

Feedback

I like my images moody and atmospheric so go out and shoot when there is rain and fog. Also try to keep original mood as is and for low contrast keep it that way and the opposite too for high contrast scenes.
