Location
This photo was taken on a cruise in Valdez, Alaska. This little guy was relaxing next to a glacier enjoying the chilly Alaskan air.Time
This was taken in the early afternoon. Despite the rainy weather we saw a lot of wildlife!Lighting
The overcast sky would normally negatively impact photos but in this case it made the blue from the glacial ice really pop!Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3400 with a 200-500mn zoom lens.Inspiration
One of my favorite things to photograph is wildlife. I especially enjoy capturing cute or goody facial expressions and this was a perfect adorable face.Editing
I do minimal post-processing as I feel it often takes away from the realism of the photo and often looks unrealistic. Small lighting adjustments were made to help draw the eye to the face but no overlays were used.In my camera bag
I generally carry a camera body of my D3400 or D7500 and a variety of lenses that give me options to shoot close or far away. My go to lens for wildlife photography is a Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens which is fabulous for wildlife photography.Feedback
A cruise is an excellent way to get a variety of shots in a short amount of time. It’s also easier to carry a better variety of gear without worrying about weight.
