Behind The Lens

Location

This is a photo of my daughter Valentyna, shot in my home photo studio in Czech republic ( Prostejov )

Time

We shot this in the late afternoon, using artificial light - 1 still studio light / soft box used from the right hand side

Lighting

I was going for the painterly look, so I only used a soft light and a tripod

Equipment

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV + 50mm , tripod, no flash, 1 softbox

Inspiration

This photo is actually a remake of a photograph of my daughter I took when we were on a trip in the woods, she was standing by a rock which made a full background and while biting a pear she gave me this wonderful look. I love the original photo but wanted to make it look a bit more "fine arty" so I decided to set up the scene in the studio.

Editing

I used the dodge and burn technique, photoshop cc2017

In my camera bag

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV + 50mm, for longer trips I take the Canon EOS-50D which is smaller and lighter, the 50mm lens is my favorite one

Feedback

The lighting is the key, soft light gives you the soft painterly look
