Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture at home in my bedroom. I have a clothes drying stand on which one of the rods was empty and there were too many colorful clips hanging at that time which gave me idea about this picture.

Time

This picture was taken around 4:00 PM IST in the afternoon. Since the Sun was at an angle, there was proper sunshine coming through the windows. I decided to put curtains to minimize too much of brightness in the background of this picture.

Lighting

It was the Sun that gave me perfect lighting. And, the curtains helped me minimize the brightness.

Equipment

I used my smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 to click this picture. Nothing else was involved to take this photograph.

Inspiration

As said before, the clothes drying stand was there with colorful clips hanging on its rods. I thought aligning these clips in particular repeating pattern will look good in a photograph. After aligning the clips, I took my smartphone camera close to it so that I can put depth of field in the background and focus on first few clips. This way, it became example of patterns photography with depth of field effect.

Editing

I didn't apply any post processing in this picture. Even this depth of field effect is generated by smartphone camera itself.

In my camera bag

I always have my smartphone with me so that when I see some attractive stuff around, I should be able to capture that thing. Maybe in the future, I might have my own DSLR or mirrorless camera, but till then, my smartphone has its abilities and powers.

Feedback

You can find patterns anywhere on this Earth. You just need to observe around yourself. If you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera, then you can use various lens to have depth of field effect like in this picture of mine which have colorful clips in repeating pattern. But, if you own a smartphone, then you have to go closer to your subject in order to get that depth of field stuff. I recommend to experiment in photography to get satisfaction from pictures you click with your device. Good luck!!!
