Location
This photograph is taken at Svörtuloft on the Snæfellsnes peninsula Iceland. I set up near Skálasnagaviti lighthouse.Time
It was a cold day in february 2018. In Iceland you have a very short amount of time for daylight in the winter and this is captured when darkness is looming around the corner at 15:00 hours. Just a couple of hours later it would be dark.Lighting
As I said before the daylight is not around that much during the Icelandic winter. You can get beautiful lighting at this time of year as the sun is just above the horizon and on this side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula you can not even see it at this time of year because it doesn't reach above the mountains.Equipment
This was shot on my Canon EOS-1D X mark II with my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens. This image is shot handheld.Inspiration
This location is one of my favorit locations in my surroundings. This is about 40 minutes drive from my home. As I knew that the weather had been rough the days before and the you can get these awesome crashing waves on those massive black cliffs.Editing
I did a little post processing as I do usually. Nothing out of the ordinary. A little sharpening and little adjustments. In my camera bag
I have two Canon bodies in my bag, The Canon EOS-1D X mark II and Canon EOS-5D mark IV. Then I have Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L III USM Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II USM Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Canon EF Carl Zeiss Distagon T* f/2.8 21mm ZE Carl Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planar ZE DJI Mavic 2 pro drone Manfrotto HEAVY DUTY GRIP BALL HEAD Manfrotto Classic Tripod Black Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head Manfrotto Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod Manfrotto 680B Monopod Manfrotto 234RC Tilt Head Actually this is not all in my bag as the bag would probably be bigger then myself.Feedback
There are a few locations in Iceland that offer those rough crashing waves against huge rocky cliffs. And the tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula is one of them.
