In the year 2000 in Samos island, Greece, a large scale fire burned almost the entire island. The fire took up to 10 days to be putted off. In these 10 days large areas of forest and fields were burned totally. Hundreds of firemen and many aircrafts, helicopters and fire department vehicles were fighting against the horrific fire which seemed unstopable. In the end it was all the effort and the fact that the fire reached the sea level and eventually had putted off by herself. This photo has been taken during a trekking I had near the summit of Mt Karvounis and shows the burned trees that unfortunatelly didn't saved. On the other hand its brothers who made it through fire and remained alive sowed their seeds and the decendens who are in the middle of the photo will fill up again the mighty pine forest that once used to be..
