Location
This photo is taken at the Osaka Castle in Osaka, Japan. There is a beautiful garden that surrounds a small lake just south of the castle on the main level of the castle grounds. Osaka Castle is most often photographed during Sakura, or cherry blossom season.Time
This photo is taken just after sunset. Despite having good cloud cover, the sunset never really developed as I had hoped. I opted for this blue hour capture instead. The castle is beautifully lit during the evening which makes nice photos possible at any time of the day or night.Lighting
The castle is lit just before dusk. This is actually 3 combined images (HDR).Equipment
Canon EOS 70D with 18-55 mm lens mounted on a travel tripod.Inspiration
We travelled the world for 8 straight years, living in 53 different countries. We spent 3 months in Japan and 1 month in the Osaka region. Osaka Castle is one of the photographic highlights that all photographers would wish to capture. Unfortunately we were not able to visit during cherry blossom season.Editing
This is 3 bracketed shots combined in Lightroom HDR and then edited in Lightroom and Nik software. In my camera bag
Canon 70D with an assortment of zoom lenses.Feedback
Osaka offers many interesting photography subjects. Osaka Castle and the Dotonburi neighborhood make the area worth your time. The nearby town of Nara is also very photogenic. Try to go during Sakura season, although you will surely find large crowds!
