Thanks! Unique place and unique time of the year. Only one week a year the mills are in the floodlight.

Location
This photo was taken at Kinderdijk the Netherlands, a world heritage site known for it's windmillsTime
This photo was taken beginning of September. One week a year the windmills are placed in flood lights. This is a happening as many photographer gather to take advantage of this unique opportunity. This photo was taken during the Blue Hour.Lighting
As it is getting dark you will be working with longer exposure times as you do not want to set the ISO sky high. If you do and average light measurement you will be fine. Don't use spot measurement, your photo will be too dark or the highlightes will be too bright. If you want to be safe, take a couple of photo's with different exposures (-1, 0, +1) and merge them into an HDR at home.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Sony camera and a 24-70 lens so you can zoom a bit, but have wide angle to see the whole landscape. As you will be working with Long Exposure times, a tripod is a must have. I use the self timer, but you can also use a remote to make the photo and reduces the risk of motion blur.Inspiration
This a ones in a year opportunity that I tend to visit every two years. These whole setting looks magical and there are so many opportunities here, you can't go wrong.Editing
For post processing I used Lightroom for the basic adjustment and the did the final adjustments in Nik, I've created my own preset in there. In my camera bag
I normally have a 17-28 and 28-75 lens with me so I have more option to zoom if the subject too far away for a ultrawide angle lens. I also have an ND filter in case allowing mee to capture the motion of the clouds or create beautiful water curtains. There is also always a brush in my bag to clean my lens and a spare SD-card. And spare batteries of corse.Feedback
Prepare your self. As the sun is setting and you do not have much time to must be at the right place at the right moment. The blue hour is normally best during the last 20 minutes. So a very small time window to make that awesome picture you have in mind.
