Location
This was taken at my favourite studio in Dublin at the time, an old mill with whitewashed stone walls, old wooden floors and some large windows. It's no surprise that old mills are very popular locations for opening studios!Time
Mid afternoon on a bright and warm August day.Lighting
I usually shoot with studio strobes but on this occasion I was working entirely with the light coming through a large window just in front of the modelEquipment
This was taken with a Nikon D90 (still one of my favourite cameras ever) and a Sigma 24-105 f4 Art lens. This is still my workhorse lens and I use it for 90% of my shoots.Inspiration
The model, the stone wall and the light!Editing
Almost nothing, just a slight crop and a little adjustment to a few sliders in LightroomIn my camera bag
Currently have a Nikon D750 but still have the Sigma 24-105 as my main lens although I'm using the Nikon 24-70 2.8 a little more often now. I added a Fuji X-T20 with an 18-55 f2.8-4 lens this year for travelling for shooting out and about. I recently picked up a second-hand 18mm f2 for the X20 and I love it.Feedback
I can't stress this enough but you absolutely must work WITH your model. Listen to them. Collaborate. Especially with a professional model. They know so much about how they look in any scenario that it's a wasted opportunity if you don't take the time to learn from them.
