This clump of trees in Birkenhead Park caught my eye because of the purple foliage and twisted, almost sculptural, trunks and branches. I have no idea what kind of tree they are - I just liked the shapes against the beautiful autumnal light.

The shapes of the trees are so interesting - and I love the purple up above and on the ground! It's almost spring-like - with an in-your-face kick of Autumn!

Beautiful looking trees. They could be one of the Tibouchina `princess flower trees` which has many varieties.
