I discovered this guy checking out my backyard. Quail are so skittish! He would come out of hiding, see me, and then scurry back under the bushes. So, I sat soooo still for about 10 minutes, hardly breathing, and he came back out again, and I was able to quickly capture this shot before he scurried back under the bushes again!

This is also the California State bird.... really is beautiful.
