Location
I took this shot near Simcoe Ontario.Time
This was late morning, almost noon.Lighting
I know many people try to avoid shooting at High Noon but I find it helps me sometimes, I like to drop the ISO as low as I can to get that great clear detail like I captured with this shot.Equipment
Shot with my Canon 6D on a Monopod. I used a Canon 135mm f2 lens that I was trying out for the first time. 1/500 sec at 50 ISO.Inspiration
It's not too often a bird of prey will stay still long enough to get a nice closeup shot. Just taking advantage of the opportunity.Editing
I don't play with my images too much. I'm not very prolific with Photoshop or Lightroom yet. I crop and adjust some of the levels a bit for now.In my camera bag
I tend to pack my bag for what I am planning on going to shoot that day. I almost never take everything when I go out. Most times I take just one or two lenses and either a mono-pod or a tripod for the longer lens. So my bag usually has an extra lens, batteries and SD cards. Yes, sometimes I get out somewhere and find that I wish I had something I left behind but most times you can learn to use your equipment in a different way then. Just have to get a little more creative some days.Feedback
Patience, Patience and Practice! Doing a little research on some of your targets before going out isn't a bad idea. I spent a day or two looking for Snowy Owls at the wrong time of day. I know better now for next winter. Whenever I go out in the car I rarely go without a camera with a mid range lens, like a 70-200mm or the 24-105mm with me. You just never know what you are going to see.
