Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the pasture across from the house whenI i arrived home one evening

Time

I was driving home one evening and noticed the colors of the sky really started standing out. I had the camera in the truck and with a little luck and some speeding arrived home in time to catch some of the peak colors behind the silhouette of the tree line. I shot for several minutes until almost full dark and then went through and pulled my favorite image.

Lighting

I kept shooting untill it was too dark to really make out the trees, some of the photos that i expected to be too dark actually had very nice color.

Equipment

Nikon 7100 with 18 - 105 4.5 to 5.6 DX VR kit lens

Inspiration

The magnificent color and layering of the summer sunset inspired me to stop and shoot for a few minutes

Editing

Light post processing using Nikon Capture NX D

In my camera bag

I normally carry my Nikon 7100 an 18 - 105 DX VR 4.5 - 5.6 a 70 - 300 FX 4.5 5.6, A 50 FX 1.4 and a apeed light.

Feedback

Be willing to adjust the aperture and shutterspeed to see how it changes to color and texture of the image, i like starting with the extremes of aperture and getting a good exposure and then working from there, sometimes underexposing the photo and rarely overexposing.
