Love this. How did you process the background? It's seamlessly done so thumbs up Rob.

Thank you @fotosbysal….I use Lightroom for pretty much all my editing, and in this particular case I had originally overlooked this picture, and only happened to return to it on a whim about three years after taking it

Incredible birds. I grew up with these black vultures in the tropics thinking they were the ugliest birds. But now that I'm trying to become a real photographer man looking at them differently in pics gives. It gives me another perspective about how majestic they can be through photography... kind of funny:) Thanks for sharing this excellent shot!

Magnificent capture. I tried to award it accordingly but hit the wrong button.

Location
I took this picture at a safari park in Estepona, SpainTime
It was around mid-afternoon, on a fairly miserable day weather-wise to be honest….Lighting
As the day was overcast, the light was quite soft and nicely diffused, although I would've probably preferred a bit more directional light given the choice...Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 50D and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L lensInspiration
Well, I love nature, and of course photographing nature, so given the choice between a family trip to Gibraltor, or visiting the safari park on my own (but with my camera!), there was only one obvious winner. This vulture in particular was perched motionless, seemingly overseeing all the others, and was an obvious choice for a quick portrait. As it happens, it was about 3 years after taking that picture that I revisited it, re-edited it, and ended up with what you see….Editing
As I mentioned, I actually edited this about 3 years after taking it, simply on a whim. I use Lightroom, and for no apparent reason decided to convert all my pictures from that day to black-and-white, just to see how they'd look…..In my camera bag
By trade, I am a wedding photographer, so my bag is typically pretty full with a couple of 5D Mk iii's, some speedlites, lots of lenses from the very wide to my 70-200mm, transceivers, etc….Feedback
Its pretty obvious, but if you want to photograph exotic creatures, more often than not you'll have to seek them out….so do so! However, nature photography doesn't have to feature exotic creatures to be awesome, so don't be put off if there aren't any nature reserves in your vicinity….a local park will offer up all sorts of potential if you keep your eyes peeled….
