Unlike fishermen who describe "the one that got away," as photographers we can use the digital darkroom to recreate a missed image. I was driving north from San Jose, CA, to Grants Pass, OR, a few years back when I came upon Mt. Shasta with a beautiful indigo sky and a full moon just above it. The light was fading fast, and by the time I could have found a spot to safely pull over and get out the camera it would have been too late. I recently woke up one Saturday morning thinking about that missed image and decided that since I already had a spectacular shot of the mountain and a copy of Photoshop CS5 that I could recreate the one that got away. This composite image is the result of that effort. Didn't quite nail the spectacular indigo sky, but at least was able to create a very satisfying approximation.

Nice composite. I have a few of these, too. Yours is very satisfying, too. I had the same problem at Mt. Shasta this summer. It was difficult to find places to pull over and shoot.
