Howdy Patricia. Lets look at this photo. The flower being in focus is great as it brings out your subject. But the tree is untrue to reality. Because you were very close to the subject. Try standing farther back and zooming onto the subject, filling the frame just as you have done here. It is a little exercise to allow you to see differantly when out shooting.
